"Repentance and Unity"

Beginning in the spring of 2001, Mike and pastors from five other area churches planned and held a one week crusade during the third week of the month of September.  The theme of the crusade was II Chron 7:14 and its purpose was to call the local church to repentance to prepare for the Holy Spirit to bring an area wide historic revival that might produce transformation in our region.

In the wake of what is now called 9/11, both the timing and theme were quite prophetic. The crusade was held nightly for five nites in a different church facility each nite.  Five pastors preached one nite each and the only rule was that no pastor could preach in his own church.  The music ministries of all the churches united to provide a blended music program for duration of the crusade.

On the fourth nite, when the Church of God pastor preaching in a Baptist Church preached from the fourth section of II Chron 7:14, “turn from your wicked ways,” the Holy Spirit sovereignly moved and the service ended with eight pastors on the platform washing each others feet, hugging, crying and repenting for our lack of unity and lack of support one for another.  As one Baptist brother put it, “I never in my whole life ever expected to see in church what I witnessed tonight.”

I don’t know that I’m truly aware of all the implications of what took place that week, but I am sure of one thing, God is preparing us (our area) for a mighty move of His spirit.  I cannot say when, but I know it is not far off.
