Living Free

The Christ-Centered Alternative

The purpose of Living Free at Tri-State Christian Center is to provide Christ-centered, small group ministry that will help people turn to God and His resources when dealing with life's problems.

Living Free groups endeavor to accomplish three things:

1) Begin ministry to those who are unable to function reasonably in their addiction, referring and assisting them to go on to a long-term residential program, if they make the choice and have exhausted all other options.

2) Provide relevant ministry to those that are reasonably functional in their addiction. This allows families to work through issues as a family, encouraging the client to be responsible for daily necessities. The client needs to make a commitment to receive help and hope through the support groups and caring relationships of the Living Free staff.

3) Provide effective follow-up to those clients that have completed long-term recovery programs, providing continued positive peer choice, accountability, boundaries, and consistency.

Living Free is a court-approved program/group, giving clients an option to attend a Christ-centered recovery program/group.

•  Living Free at TSCC is approved for the Drug Court and Domestic Violence Court of the Appalachian Judicial Circuit by Chief Judge Brenda Weaver.

Description of the

5 Components of Recovery

1) Decision: Coming to a point in one's life where the client finally admits; “I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired” and makes a decision to get serious about a plan of recovery!

2) Positive Peer Choice: Surrounding oneself with people who are serious about a life-change, encouraging the client!  The old friends will sabotage the recovery process and life-plan, while positive friends will be supportive of the recovery process!

3) Accountability: Helping the client to account for the actions and decisions based on the Life-plan, evaluating progress and helping the client to be responsible for personal inventory.

4) Boundaries: Helping the client to learn the word “no” and understanding that there are people that I must not see, and places where I must not go.

5) Consistency: Understanding that it's not how you start the Life-plan that matters, but how consistent you are in the implementation! Realizing that recovery and discipleship are for a lifetime.

Statement of Ministry Ethics

Because we at Tri-State Christian Center are committed to operating Living Free as a Kingdom ministry, and not as an instrument to benefit ourselves, we commit before God that...

•  We will not use Living Free to influence clients to leave churches to which they are already connected.

•  We will encourage clients to be committed to and involved in the church they call their home.

•  For those who have no prior church affiliation, we feel the liberty to encourage involvement at Tri-State Christian Center , or to recommend other pastors and churches depending on the individual's denominational preference.

•  We will endeavor to help area pastors understand the benefits of the Living Free Ministry for their church members who are facing problems that require a recovery ministry, and to help pastors know that we will treat their members who participate in Living Free with respect, confidentiality and Christian love.
